Mama & Baby Humpback Whale

Lets explore and paint together this adorable ocean scene of a Mama and Baby Whale! We will be using painted collage in the background then completing with acrylic paint and paint pens. Lets have fun and learn interesting facts about the majestic humpback whales and their calves as we paint!

BUDDY the Elf

We will be creating a whimsical illustrative painting of Buddy holding a sign with some of his favorite quotes. Students will create a layered mixed media background using vintage sheet music and assorted papers, acrylic paint and paint pens and we will be stenciling on the snowflakes and trees. You will have your pick of five different Buddy quotes to choose from. After completion, your Special Artwork will be displayed in the Gallery Room at the Hayner Center from December 6, 2025 - January 4, 2026. During the Christmas Open Houses and exhibit. This year’s theme is Favorite Christmas movies and your art teachers Kelly Rank & Ginger Godfrey will be decorating the room and displaying your masterpieces in the Gallery! Its an honor to have your art displayed and you can invite your family and friends to come in and view your art and all the beautifully decorated rooms at the Hayner Center. Buddy the Elf style snacks and refreshments will be served in this special festive class as well.

HOMESCHOOL ART (FRIDAY CLASSES) - Dana Leonard
Students will build a strong art education foundation, through a large variety of mediums and techniques. They will learn about basic art design principles, as well as be exposed to iconic artists and cultural styles.
*Creativity is a messy process! Students should dress appropriately.*

Meet our Homeschool Art instructor.
Dana Leonard received a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University in Art Education. She taught Art at various Troy City Schools for 6 years, until her first child was born in 2012. Dana is a homeschool mom of three children: ages 14, 12, & 8. She has been teaching private art lessons and homeschool co-op art classes for the past 10 years. In her limited spare time, Dana Leonard loves to paint.
