Drawing Room Chamber Concert Series

This series takes place in our intimate listening room on the last Tuesday of most months in the school year. There is no admission and reservations are not necessary. Our musicians often take time to share their inspirations and the reasons why the pieces they chose are important to them. Students are encouraged to attend as this is a wonderful way to experience these instruments and the music they make.

Members perform with ensembles including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Pops, Dayton Philharmonic, Columbus Symphony, Lexington Philharmonic, and Springfield Symphony.

The group has performed at the Troy Mayor’s Concert, High Street United Methodist Church in Springfield, and Worthington Presbyterian Church in Columbus. Oakwood Brass also serves in residence at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, performing for special holidays and joining the orchestra during May Festival festivities.

In addition to their performance work, many members are educators at institutions including the University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Wright State University, Capital University, and Cedarville University.

Program Highlights

Audiences will enjoy:

  • George Gershwin’s Strike Up the Band
  • A medley from the George M. Cohan library, including Give My Regards to Broadway and Yankee Doodle Boy
  • John Philip Sousa’s Semper Fidelis and Stars and Stripes Forever
  • American folk favorite Shenandoah
