2025 Troy, Ohio PorchFest Celebrates Regional Music

The sixth Troy, Ohio’s PorchFest is slated for Saturday, September 13. The music festival will open with the Troy High School Marching Band at 10:30 am on the Hayner front lawn. Artisan Tent Village will open at 11:00 am along with six food trucks. You will find waffle cone brisket at the Big Red Food Truck and “The Henry” fried bologna at Frencheese Eats. Home Cooked Vibes will be bringing some Jerk Chicken eggrolls and you can get Kick’n Chick’n at Taters and Bunwich. Lovewell Coffee, The Farmhouse Bakery and I Heart Ice Cream will be onsite to finish out your meal and make it special. Artisan Tent Village boasts pottery by Mark David Holbrook Creations, hand woven textiles with Lady-L-Weaving, fair trade items by Trades of Hope. Roll Away the Dye will have hand dyed shirts, jewelry by Sarah Wrona Designs and cards and papercraft from Nana’s Locker Room. The Country Workshop Artists will bring their unique and varied crafts and fine art.

At noon the music will begin in the footprint of the Southwest Historic District across from the Hayner. Six or seven concerts will begin each hour. Guests can pick up a festival flier at the info booth or go online to www.TroyHayner.org/porchfest to find the music schedule. “It really helps to map out your journey through this festival,” says Terrilynn Meece, the organizer of the event. “You will want to map out your favorite bands because there is no way to see them all. This is a kind of kinetic way to hear music. You will zip from one concert to the next and probably see a couple of bands you didn’t know you loved on your way to the next concert. It is a big, full day!”

This year’s festival will present a rich variety of musical offerings and genres. There are seventeen rock bands with a bunch of great cover bands. You will find alt-rock with Camarillo, indie with Sean McSwain, Americana with Mark Cantwil and the Punch Drunk Heros. SugRRock will present classic rock, and the exciting Visitor will be onsite, calling their genre “rock.” Two bluegrass bands and seven country bands include Possum Creek Ramblers, Chad Cremeans, Reflektion and Josie Birdsong. Jazz includes classical guitar of Jimmy Felts, Blues with Harmonica Neil, Latin with Café Con Leche and our very own Troy High School Jazz Combo. Unique musical offerings include Chanterelle Mandolin Ensemble and the Gibbons String Quartet. Polka with Tyler Fairburn and the Bremen Express, experimental looping with Mt. Analogue, the fantastic Dayton Salsa Project and “hippie soul” with Angela Combs and Rob Olsen. “Look for your favorites but be open to finding something new to love!” says Terrilynn.

The closing concert this year will be Giana Allen and the Honky Tonk Specials. Giana Allen is a seasoned performer and an outstanding vocalist. This five-piece band also features Jimmy Allen on harmonica, Luke Davis, guitar; A.J. Montgomery, guitar & Mat Morick on drums. Almost all the band members are local to Troy to help bring home that sweet Troy, Ohio community love.
