Focusing on the fundamentals of painting is the most important thing you can do when starting your watercolor painting experience. Fundamentals include how to create shape when working on a flat surface, and gaining an understanding of color, color usage, & more. Learning these things will put you on the right path to signing your own works of art!

The more you paint, the better you get! There is always something to learn, and we continue learning in each class. Our skills develop each time we pick up a brush and the excitement continues each time we mix a beautiful color of paint! Half of the fun of oil painting is learning and the other half is seeing our results. The more we paint, the better we get. It is definitely a rewarding experience! So, come join us. We all become inspired as we paint and learn together.

Mixed Media Collage

No experience required! Collage is a fun, stress-free experience! We will learn basic collage techniques and from there we will expand it into a mixed media work of art using paper, paint, and various other items to add texture and interest to our art. Project supplies will be provided. If you have something special you want to use like family photos, have them copied on a Laser Printer. Ink Jet printer copies Will Not Work.

Art Studio is YOUR studio space! This is an informal group of artists who share knowledge and experience among all members of this dynamic group! Paint in your choice of media (oil, watercolor, or acrylics). You provide your own paints and supplies. Purchase your Drop-in Card, then choose from available dates. Card Fee for 7 visits is $85. ABOUT DONNA
Donna holds a Masters degree in Education. She is an award winning Signature Member of The Ohio Watercolor Society, and an active exhibiting member of the Western Ohio Watercolor Society and the Fairborn Art Association. Join Ginger and learn to paint using the wet on wet technique. The class is fun and inspiring and you’ll learn to tap into your creative spirit. You’ll take home a 16” by 20” completed work of art. Some classes will use a new technique, acrylic with oil glaze. If you’ve never painted before this class is for you! Creative spirit and Ginger can help you discover your hidden talent. All art supplies are provided. Bring a roll of paper towels and baby wipes. The class fills up fast so schedule right away. Each class will feature a different painting, subject matter will be waterfalls, seascapes, and mountains.

Many years ago, Ginger started painting painting her children's portraits. She also works with watercolors & just completed her granddaughter's portrait. She has studied sculpting, watercolors, & stained glass at the Rosewood Arts Center in Dayton, Dayton Art Glass, & Indiana University, in addition to studies in Florida & St. Charles, Mo. After she retired she wanted to teach the "Joy of Painting" technique so she became a Certified Bob Ross Instructor at New Smyrna Beach in Florida in 2012. Ginger now teaches the Bob Ross wet-on-wet technique in her classes.

Simple materials can create the most beautiful art. Students will learn and practice 3 basic techniques that take coloring to a form of fine art drawing. Students will begin with simple exercises to familiarize themselves with the medium and finish by creating a drawing of their choice. All supplies are included in the class fee.

Leona Sargent earned her BA Degree in Art and Communication Arts from Georgetown College. She also holds a MH Degree with an Art History emphasis and a Museum Studies Certification from Wright State University. She has taught K-12 art in a private school setting, kid's and adult art and art history classes at the Hayner Center, as well as private art lessons.
