Hayner’s 2022 Lucky Lemonade Concert Series Opens with The Hamiltons
It is going to be a night of classic country in the Courtyard on Tuesday, July 5 at 7:30 pm with The Hamiltons. Come and sit awhile with Lonnie, Lawrence, Vance and Mike. This band was started over 50 years ago by Mom and Dad, Ronnie and Martha Hamilton. Lonnie and Lawrence began to join-in when they were just 11 and 12 and have continued the pursuit of this family tradition. Lonnie plays guitar, bass, fiddle, banjo and Lawrence plays guitar, bass and mandolin. On guitar and bass is Mike Powell who joined the group as a youngster. Vance Spellman joined the group a few years ago. He has also been playing the guitar since he was just a young kid. The Lucky Lemonade Concert series happens four Tuesdays in July at 7:30 pm. Concerts take place in the stone courtyard behind the Hayner and feature current, regional, original music. The 2022 season will include the rich rock sounds of Tyler Cochran Trio on July 12, a jazz quartet called Sax B & MWM on July 19, and the wonderful WingWalkers Band will bring us some folk and American string on July 26.

Tyler Cochran Trio Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 7:30 pm
Hayner’s Lucky Lemonade Concert series honors exceptional regional musicians and current, original music. On Tuesday, July 12 the series will feature a Dayton musician and his exceptional band. Cochran’s style is, what he calls, “the soul of the blues, the mentality of jazz and the attitude of rock.” He is a skillful guitarist having had a guitar in his hands for over half his young life.  Joining him for this concert is Phil Doncaster on drums and Matt Rookard on bass. The band will play some favorite covers as well as several of Tyler’s own compositions. The style is an energetic, feel-good blues rock.

Smooth Jazz with Sax B & MWB on Tuesday, July 19 at 7:30 pm
Sax B is Brandon Monford, a gifted saxophonist from Toledo, Ohio. On Tuesday, July 19 at 7:30 pm he will be bringing guitar, keys and drums featuring Mickey, Will and Mya. Their smooth jazz sound is a mixture of chemistry and the great musicians that have influenced them such as Gerald Albright, Kenny G and Kirk Whalum. One can hear the imprint of the early versions of smooth from the 80s, 90s and 00s while ushering in a fresh new perspective of their own with original compositions. Sax B has a mission to spread love to the world via saxophone which arguably, may have been the meaning behind smooth jazz from the very beginning. It is a beautiful genre, and this group has a lot in their hearts to share. You will find this concert in the stone courtyard behind the Hayner.

The Wingwalkers band to perform for Hayner’s Lucky Lemonade Concert Series
Hayner’s Lucky Lemonade Concert series will feature The Wingwalkers on Tuesday, July 26 at 7:30 pm. Wingwalkers is an accomplished acoustic string trio with guitarist Michael Kalter, violinist Doug Hamilton and bassist Noah Cope. The group chose the name “Wingwalkers” to honor the daring acrobats that would balance on a sailing airplane wing with shifting wind all around them, with no safety gear and nothing but their own instincts to keep the momentum. Like these daredevils, this string ensemble speaks the language of the great American improvisational traditions. The group blends folk, bluegrass, Americana and swing to create a unique and progressive style which lends itself to original compositions, as well as a diverse pool of covers by artists such as Gnarls Barkley, Sting, The Young Bloods, Chris Issac, Janis Joplin, The Band, Paul Simon & Peter Rowan to name only a few.
The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is supported by the taxpayers of Troy and the generous donations of the Friends of Hayner. The mission is to preserve and maintain the Hayner mansion as a cultural resource center for the present and as a historical legacy for the future generations of the community of Troy, Ohio.
