Ukrainian Style Easter Eggs
Barbara Deschapelles
The first session covers the basic process and tools for the traditional Ukrainian style (aka Batik) eggs, including where to find supplies, online resources, and a bit of history of these eggs. We will cover the basic egg divisions used for the traditional eggs, and how to empty the eggs and prepare them for long term display or storage. Remaining sessions will cover advanced tools and other methods other than the traditional egg decoration, including using alcohol inks, leaving the wax on, scratch style eggs, and more. All supplies are included in the cost of the class, and includes a kit to take home to continue making beautiful eggs. Wear old clothes in case of an "oops" with the dyes.

Barbara Deschapelles has lived in Troy for over 40 years, and worked in the computing and Information Technology sector most of that time. She and her husband have two grown children and two grandchildren. Barb has been making Ukrainian style eggs for better than 25 years, but continues to learn new and different techniques. The interest in these eggs started at home when she was a child, and her family displayed several eggs each Easter. She has taught this class for a number of years.
