Jason began playing guitar in middle school. He served at a church in music ministry for 12 years before moving to Troy. He has taught guitar lessons (and other facets of music) for 20 years.
Acoustic Guitar for Beginners
In 6 1-hour sessions, we seek to turn the mystery of the guitar into
something manageable; allowing the player to know the basics of
the guitar, including major and minor chords and a sense of
rhythm. Emphasis will be placed on the introductory concepts.
Session notes included in fee. Students will need to provide
their own guitar and picks.

Week #1—The Basics
Focus on basic understanding of the guitar. How to tune it, take care of it, and an introduction to the instrument itself (basic note placement).
Week #2—Understanding Chords
In this session we seek to define chords, introduce basic music theory, and show you three basic chord shapes.
Week #3—Understanding Chords (part 2)
A follow up to week #2. In this session, we will learn new chord shapes and introduce rhythms.
Week #4—bar chords
This session seeks to continue a basic understanding of chords.
Week #5—Minor chords
This session will seek to teach a few minor chords and explain some of the theory behind them.
In this session we seek to establish basic understanding of time signature and how to translate them to guitar.
