Easy & Useful Technology for Older Adults
Barbara Moore
Are you feeling left behind by technology? Are you wondering if you can learn it and what could help you? Join us for a fun session to find out what good things may be available for you! The technology industry has finally realized there is a large market for simple and intuitive tools to help seniors stay connected with friends and family, have fun, or to stay in their home longer. We’ll talk about a what’s available, how easy is it, and what it can do for you.
Some older adults may feel left behind by these technological changes. This is unfortunate because many of these advances offer real benefits to seniors that can make their lives more enjoyable. I speak from experience as my family has directly benefited from many of these tools - including my mom who never used a computer or cell phone until she was 88.
Today there are many easy-to-use tools designed to be extra simple for less or non-techy seniors. Some tools address issues of declining vision or hearing. Come learn about a variety of products and services like ways to make free video calls using your TV or phone, smart watches that can summon help in emergencies like a fall, GrandPad for easy and secure email, pill containers that send you a text alert at dosage time, and much more.
This class is suitable for computer beginners. Students do not need to bring anything to class. Complete handouts provided.
